Product Overview

Selenium dioxide, White or light yellow monoclinic or tetragonal crystals, hygroscopic and pungent sour. Soluble in water, ethanol, acetone, acetic acid and benzene. Used to make high purity selenium and other selenium compounds, or as an oxidant and catalyst for organic synthetic drugs. Used as an organic compound oxidant, catalyst, chemical reagent, raw materials for the manufacture of various inorganic selenium compounds. Also used in copiers, rectifiers, etc. For manufacturing of other selenium compounds, alkaloid tests, oxidants. It reacts with ammonia to form nitrogen and selenium. In the alcohol solution, it produces ethylammonium selenite [NH4(C2H5)SeO3], which forms nitrogen and black amorphous selenium with hydrazine, and hydroxylamine hydrochloride produces nitrogen and reddish brown amorphous selenium. Produces selenite with nitric acid.
