colorless transparent liquid with irritating odor which can be mixed with ethanol, ether.Methyl chloroformate 

is soluble in benzene and chloroform, slightly soluble in water and gradually decomposed by water.Methyl 

chloroformate Has tear-inducing effect with the harm for eye and respiratory tract.Methyl chloroformate also 

can be absorbed through the skin and cause poisoning. The maximum allowable concentration in the workplace
