Product Overview

Potassium ferricyanide (chemical potassium ferricyanide), chemical formula K3 [Fe(CN)6], commonly known as Red Prussiate, potassium ferrate salt [1]. The material had a molar mass of 329.24 g·mol-1 and a solid density of 1.85 g/cm3. The bright red solid salt is soluble in water and the aqueous solution is yellow-green fluorescent and contains the ferric cyanide complex {[Fe(CN)6]3−}.
Potassium ferricyanide was discovered by the German chemist Leopold Gemmain in 1822. The German chemist Robert Wilhelm Bunsen successfully measured the composition and crystallization of potassium ferricyanide in 1846 [2]. Mainly used in photographic paper, pigments, leather, printing, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, mordants, electroplating, papermaking, steel and other industries, chemically used in ferrous ion (Fe2+) testing [1]. The central atom of the substance is iron ion (Fe3+), the ligand is cyanide ion (CN-), the coordination number is 6, and the internal boundary is ferrocyanide ion [[Fe(CN)6]3-}. It is potassium ion (K+).
