Product Overview

Potassium cyanate, chemical formula KCNO. White crystals. Hard to dissolve in water, slightly soluble in ethanol. It becomes potassium cyanide and carbon dioxide when it is exposed to air at high temperatures. It is commonly used in organic synthesis and pharmaceuticals and can also be used as a herbicide. Potassium cyanide can be reacted with lead oxide. Production Method: 1. It is reduced from sodium amalgam to formaldehyde and reacted with inorganic acid. Or by potassium cyanide oxidation with air or oxygen obtained. It can also be prepared by heating potassium carbonate or a mixture of potassium hydroxide and urea. 2. Potassium carbonate and urea heating system. Take 70g of fine powder anhydrous K2CO3 and 80g of urea and mix thoroughly. The mixture was placed in a porcelain evaporating dish and heated in a fume hood with a gas light. The mixture is pressed down at all times, but it must not be agitated to reduce mechanical losses. The mixture partially melted and released a large amount of NH3. The mixture became almost solid and finally melted again to form a clear liquid.
